MEET THE TEAM

All our instructors are Black Belt Dan-grades and have coaching qualifications accredited by the UK governing body of Aikido, the British Aikido Board, as well as being approved to teach by the Principal of Lancashire Aikikai. They have received grade accreditation both from Hombu Dojo, Tokyo, the world headquarters of Aikido.

Sensei Graham Harrison

Graham started training in Judo in 1971 but in 1974 discovered Aikido and started training with the Lancashire Aikikai in Manchester.
Graham then moved from Judo to concentrate on Aikido reaching 1st Dan in 1983 and subsequently began teaching. Graham currently holds the BAB Coach Level
One Award.
He has studied various styles of Aikido, attended many courses over the years and has also trained in Japan on various occasions. He currently holds the rank of 6th Dan.

Kelvin Rice 3rd Dan

Originally Kelvin trained in Karate and Kung Fu before practising Ki Aikido for a time. In 1989 he then joined the Lancashire Aikikai and was subsequently graded 1 st Dan by Mucha Sensei in 1996.
Kelvin was awarded 2nd Dan in 2000 by Sensei Spence followed by 3rd Dan in November 2013 also by Sensei Spence.

Wayne Gaunt 3rd Dan

Wayne first started his martial arts training in Budokan karate but in 1992 came across Aikido and under the direction of Sensei Graham Harrison was awarded 1st Dan in 1998 by the late Marion Mucha Sensei.
2nd Dan (2004) and 3rd Dan (2013) were subsequently awarded by Bob Spence Sensei who succeeded Mr Mucha as Principal of Lancashire Aikikai. Wayne currently holds the BAB (British Aikido Board) Coach Level One Award.
